Rebuilding Self-Confidence after a Setback

Life is never all downhill or all uphill. It ebbs & flows, with failures & successes. How we manage the moments following a setback is so vital to our mental & emotional wellbeing, as well as key to rebuilding lost confidence. 1. Acknowledge, accept, & feel your feelings. No feeling is unjustified at this stage. Refrain from denying your experience, & instead be very open and accepting of each emotion, utilizing healthy outlets to express each one.

2. Acknowledge each experience is a learning opportunity. Failure once does not equate to future failures, and failure does not mean you're lacking what's necessary to succeed. You simply have lessons to learn, attempts to try, and growth to undergo. 3. Leverage your strengths. There is no one way, or one best way. The best way for you to succeed is by utilizing the strengths you already have. Find creative solutions unique to your skillset.

5. Practice self-care and positive self-talk.

6. Seek out a support system. Ask for constructive feedback. Be willing to adjust your path where reasonable. Do not hide from your failure! Be willing to step outside that comfort zone to challenge your thoughts & beliefs. 7. Persist! You may not succeed the first time, second time, or third time. It may take multiple tries! But each attempt builds your self-efficacy and brings you closer to recovered confidence.
